Shannon is a Certified Master Groomer and Canine Behaviorist with over 30 years of experience. She and Dennis also run Gigi’s Gems Chihuahua Rescue, caring for senior and special needs dogs every single day. If your dog needs extra care, this is the place that was built for them.

Boarding Requirements
- Age: We accept non-aggressive, housebroken guests over the age of nine months that have been approved for boarding membership. Some exceptions for guests under nine months may be considered.
- Vaccinations: We require that all pet owners contact their veterinarians to directly email vaccination records to us. Required vaccinations: Distemper (DHLPP), Rabies, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). Vaccinations must be current at least ten days before your drop-off date. No exceptions.
- Parasite Control: Unless your pet is on monthly heartworm prevention, he must be wormed with products provided by a veterinarian prior to staying at our facility. It is a simple procedure: either a one-dose pill or three days of a powder mixed in with your pet’s food. We require that all pet owners contact their veterinarians to request that they send proof of worming or heartworm prevention along with vaccination records.
- Male Dogs: All male dogs must be neutered. If you have an intact male dog who is housebroken, we may accept him. Please fill out the application and submit.
- Female Dogs: We prefer that females are spayed, however we do accept female dogs that have not been spayed as long as they are not in season.
- Medications and Veterinary Care: We are Red Cross Certified in Pet First Aid and CPR. If your pet requires medication, please provide a detailed list of medications and dosages and we will be glad to administer what is needed for an additional charge of $3 per dosage.
- Special Needs and Geriatric Pets: We appreciate and cater to guests with special needs. Geriatric pets, physical handicaps, medical conditions/medication, separation anxiety, special diets or allergies, fear of thunder or fireworks… the list goes on and on! To us pets are just hairy people, and they all have their quirks and special traits! We are not only accustomed to this here at Luxury Unleashed, but we appreciate individuality!

We reserve the right to refuse any client or any pet for any reason.
Boarding Policies
Payment and Access
- Invoices are due within three days of receiving. Final deadline, which many like to ignore: 8pm the night before drop-off. If it’s not paid by then, your reservation is cancelled. No exceptions. All early morning desperate texts to Auntie Shannon begging for a door code will not be responded to.
- Door Codes: No door codes will be given on drop-off day. None. For any reason. It is your responsibility the night before departure, prior to 8pm, to make sure you have paid and have a door code. We will not do this for you.
- Applications must be submitted at least 48 hours before your departure date.
- No scheduled office hours. We do not respond to drop-ins. We will contact you to set up a convenient appointment time.
During Your Dog’s Stay
- Drop-Off Enclosure: Nothing goes inside the drop-off enclosure with your dog. No beds, toys, treats, leashes, or anything else. They’re only in there briefly before moving to their cottage. Items inside create safety and behavioral issues. After nearly 35 years of doing this, trust us: this prevents guarding, anxiety, and unnecessary stress. If items are placed inside, a surcharge will apply.
- Food and Water Dishes: Insurance requires us to use our own dishes for health and safety reasons. Don’t bring bowls. If your dog needs a slow feeder, we have those too.
- Chew Toys and Treats: Do not bring hard plastic chew toys, antlers, rawhide, or real bones. We won’t give these to your dog during their stay. Approved: non-rawhide chews (like hard cheese) and Kong toys.
Pricing Policy
Because our specialized services are provided daily, we charge a daily rate instead of an overnight rate. Since our guests are able to be picked up seven days a week, you are only charged for the days that your pet is actually here.
Please note that you are always charged for the first day, regardless of drop-off time. That means even if you drop your pet off at 9pm in the evening, you will be charged for the entire day because we cannot rent that space to someone else while holding it for your pet’s arrival.
If you make prior arrangements to pick up your pet before noon on pick-up day, you will only be charged for half a day for that last day. If you will be picking up your pet after noon, then the pick-up day will be charged as a full day.
Examples
Pet is dropped off Friday morning and picked up Saturday night = 2 days.
Pet is dropped off Friday morning and picked up Sunday night = 3 days.
Pet is dropped off Friday morning and picked up Sunday morning between 7am and 9am = 2 and 1/2 days.
Refund Policy
Because we are a boutique facility with very limited space, no cash refunds will be issued regardless of circumstance. In the event that your plans change, you will be issued a credit which may be used by you during the following twelve months.
