Specialized Care for Pets with Health Issues
Rest assured that Shannon, our highly qualified and experienced pet care provider, is educated and equipped to provide a wide range of specialized care for pets with health issues. She is Red Cross certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. She religiously follows medication schedules, can provide wound bandaging and post operative care, and can also administer specialized things such as insulin shots or even subcutaneous liquids for pets with chronic kidney problems. Shannon will work with you (and your veterinarian if necessary) to create a customized care plan for each pet, ensuring that all medical needs are met while boarding.
Special Handling for Geriatric Pets
If your pet is geriatric, we are well-equipped to provide specialized care. We offer accommodations such as foam mats to provide extra cushioning for pets who cannot climb onto a bed, and can provide assistance with mobility as needed. Shannon is trained to handle pets gently and with care and has had three decades of experience to ensure that all of the pets in her care are comfortable and safe during their stay.
Individualized Attention and Monitoring
At Luxury Unleashed, we understand that some pets require extra attention and monitoring to ensure their well-being while being boarded. We carefully observe each pet for any changes in behavior or physical condition (cameras in each cottage help Shannon with this task) and will notify you and/or your veterinarian immediately if any concerns arise. Shannon is trained to recognize and respond to signs of distress or discomfort, providing comfort and support as needed.
Pets Who Need Additional Emotional Support
Some pets have special needs because they may exhibit fear behaviors (thunder or fireworks), or have mild to extreme separation anxiety, which we are experienced in handling. Many of the pets we care for have been adopted from shelters and rescues, and often have suffered abuse and neglect in their past. Shannon goes above and beyond to customize a care plan that caters to the emotional needs of these pets. With over thirty years of animal care experience, extensive work as a dog trainer and behaviorist, and being the owner of three precious rescued Chihuahuas with extensive emotional and medical issues, Shannon knows how to handle these delicate situations with care and compassion. We believe that every pet deserves individualized attention and care, and we strive to provide just that at Luxury Unleashed.
Nutrition Care and Monitoring for Pets Who Won’t Eat
For pets with issues eating while owners are away, we take special care to ensure that each pet receives the appropriate nutrition and hydration during their stay. Pet owners should bring their pet’s food for the best results, but Luxury Unleashed can provide additional food if pets refuse their normal diet. If your pet does not eat, Shannon is happy to provide a variety of high-quality, nutritious food options for room service and can accommodate special dietary needs, as directed by you or your veterinarian. She will also monitor your pet’s food and water intake and offer tempting treats or even hand feed pets who need extra encouragement to eat.
